Tooth Pain:

  • Call us immediately for an appointment
  • Take an over the counter ibuprofen as you do with any other minor aches and/or pains as long as you are not allergic to the medication. DO NOT place the medication like aspirin around the area and leave it in the mouth. This causes significant damage to the tissue.
  • Toothaches can be caused by a number of things. Keeping the area of concern clean with warm water rinses and flossing to make sure no food or debris is lodged between teeth is advisable.

Broken Fillings or Lost crowns:

  • Call us immediately for an appointment
  • If a temporary or permanent crown came off, bring it into the office and have your dentist evaluate the crown to see if it can be placed back
  • Try to keep the area clean with normal hygiene and rinsing and come to see us right away so a proper evaluation and treatment can be rendered

Traumatic injuries and knocked out teeth:

  • Call us immediately for an appointment (847) 740-0217
  • If the tooth came out completely then rinse with water, but DO NOT scrub extensively.
  • Store the clean tooth in saline (sterile water), or milk and come to our office immediately.
  • Completely knocked out teeth have the highest chance of survival if they are returned to the socket within one hour of being knocked out.
  • If the injury was due to an accident of some sort, it is imperative to make sure no jaw fractures are present and that no nerve damage has occurred. Proper evaluation in a timely manner is very important.
